Birmingham 2022 is staging the 16th official Queen’s Baton Relay – an epic journey across the Commonwealth, with The Queen’s Baton visiting all 72 nations and territories.
On Wednesday 20 July 2022, the Queen’s Baton will make its way through Lichfield District just eight days prior to the opening of the games, and we will be hosting a Celebration Festival for the local community.
The festival will run from 1pm to 3.30pm in Chasewater Country Park, and will consist of various sporting taster activities to participate in, as well as the chance to see the Queen’s Baton Relay make its way through the park.

We will closely monitor the weather in the build up to the event. We will adapt where possible activities should the weather be poor and use gazebos as shelter if appropriate to do so.
Please ensure that you keep an eye on the weather and ensure that you are equipped to the weather forecast, re. sun hats and sun cream for hot days and raincoats etc for rainy days.
All event staff, volunteers and leaders are advised to bring their own refreshments including a packed lunch. No refreshments will be provided during the event. Participants are all advised to bring their own food and drinks.
As part of the registration process participants must confirm that they understand the following:
All registered participants will be given a coloured wristband which must be worn at all times during the event. Any child that has not been granted photo consent will be given orange wristbands.
We ask that you only take photographs of your children/participants you have attended the event with and that your photographs do not feature other participants as much as possible. We ask if other participants are visible on your photos that these recordings or images are not put in the public domain.
Both Staff and volunteers will make every effort to return lost and found property to the rightful owners but please be aware that we accept any responsibility for the loss, theft or damage of any personal property of the participants, coaches, event staff or officials.
Any person finding a lost item should hand it into the registration Desk. If not claimed the item will be handed to the event staff at the registration Gazebo. Any property not claimed at the end of the event will be taken back to Burntwood Leisure Centre, High Street, Chasetown, WS7 3XH where it will be kept for six weeks and then disposed of accordingly.
