SPACE summer passes

Thanks to funding from the Staffordshire Police & Fire Commissioner, SPACE passes are making a welcome return this summer. For £20 a pass young people aged from 8 to 17 can enjoy:

  • unlimited Getin2it summer sessions, including football, tennis, dance and multi sports
  • Public swims at Freedom Burntwood Leisure Centre and Freedom Friary Grange Leisure Centre
  • Court hire (depending on availability – please pre-book) at Freedom Burntwood Leisure Centre and Freedom Friary Grange Leisure Centre
  • Crazy golf at Beacon Park
  • Bowls and petanque at Beacon Park
  • Use of the cricket pitch at Beacon Park

SPACE summer passes are on sale at Burntwood and Friary Grange leisure centres from 8 July 2019.

As part of the SPACE initiative, there are lots of free activities on offer for young people this summer. Here’s a bit more detail and how you can find out more and book onto the activities:

Fun Club

Join Fun Club for free fun in the sun this summer. All activities are run by qualified DBS checked youth and community workers.

Junior sessions for 8 to 13 year olds will run from 6.30pm to 8pm and senior sessions for 13 to 17 year olds will run from 8.15pm to 9.30pm. There is no need to book – just turn up!

Open House (Cherry Close, Burntwood)

  • Masterpieces and Milkshakes – Monday 29 July
  • Dance, DJ & Desserts – Monday 5 August
  • Family Day Open House – Wednesday 7 August, 12noon to 4pm
  • Crafts, Karaoke & Candyfloss – Monday 12 August
  • Summer Party & Snacks – Monday 19 August

There will also be a Family Day at Redwood Park on Wednesday 21 August from 12noon to 4pm.

Little Green Frog, Lichfield

  • Masterpieces and Milkshakes – Thursday 1 August
  • Dance & Desserts – Thursday 8 August
  • Crafts Karaoke & Candyfloss – Thursday 15 August
  • Family Day – Sunday 18 August, 12noon to 4pm
  • Summer Party – Thursday 22 August

There will also be a Family Day at Curborough Community Centre in north Lichfield on Sunday 25 August from 12noon to 4pm.

Edingale Village Hall

The team at Edingale Village Hall is working with Freedom Leisure and the Fun Club to run activities including sports and snacks, multi sports, glow sports, dodgeball, karaoke and a summer party. Check out the full summer programme. All sessions are free but there are only 30 places per session and age restrictions apply. Booking is essential, email to book.

Staffordshire Wildlife Trust

Staffordshire Wildlife Trust is running activities at Gentleshaw Common this summer. They will include Get Wild sessions which feature a morning of exploration of the great outdoors. Activities may include: den building, minibeast hunting and much more and are for 8 to 17 year olds. Booking is essentil – click on the ‘Get Wild’ links to find out more and book your place.

Liberty work with young people who live with learning and physical disabilities and/or mental ill health. They will be running the following activities from 22 to 26 July 2019:

  • Arts and crafts/ recycle, team games – Monday 22 July
  • Sports- football, dodgeball, tennis. Road safety group work exploring local area – Tuesday 23 Jul
  • Outdoor activities – team building, wall climbing, orienteering – Wednesday 24 Jul
  • Relaxation and mindfulness- sensory activities – Thursday 25 Jul
  • Party- disco – Friday 26 Jul

Lichfield Cathedral

Lichfield Cathedral will be running STEM activities, based around science and space. There will be activities on Monday to Saturday from 1.30 – 3.30pm throughout the holidays as well as an Explorer Dome (inflatable planetarium) on Saturday 3 and Monday 12 August.
